A
Story of Elephant
Elephant is the oldest and smartest of all the animals in the
forest. He always tells wonderful stories to others, so everyone likes him.
Monkey is Elephant’s best friend. He is not as old or smart as Elephant, but he
can make the whole forest laugh. He loves to tell jokes. He lives in the big
tree near Elephant’s home. Elephant and Monkey are good friends. Elephant
always tells wonderful stories to Monkey, and Monkey always picks a lot of
fruit for Elephant. They love to play games and laugh together.
One evening, Elephant tells Monkey that
he will leave soon. Elephant knows he is getting old, and one day he will die
like all animals. Monkey is really sad because he doesn’t want Elephant to
leave him. He doesn’t want to lose his best friend. He knows that if Elephant
leaves, no one will tell wonderful stories to him and to the other animals in
the forest. There won’t be anyone to laugh loudly at his silly monkey jokes.
Monkey is angry and he doesn’t want to talk to Elephant.
Elephant feels sad, too. He is happy to
have a good and funny friend in the forest and live a happy life. But he has to
leave. He believes that Monkey will find new friends, tell new jokes, and hear
new stories from others soon. He will enjoy his days with his new friends
without him.
Elephant and Monkey promise they won’t
forget each other. They will be best friends forever. Elephant leaves with
tears in his eyes. He goes to a secret place where all elephants go when it’s
time for them to die. Monkey misses Elephant every day. He decides he won't
tell jokes anymore. The forest is very quiet and sad now. Everyone misses
Elephant’s stories and Monkey’s jokes.
